India's T20 World Cup Squad Live Updates: BCCI set for selection meeting

India's T20 World Cup Squad: The Board of Control for Cricket in India is set for the all-important meeting of its selection committee that will pick the national squad for the 2024 men's T20 World Cup to be jointly hosted by the USA and West Indies from June 2 to 29.

The wicketkeeper-batsman slot is expected to draw the most attention, with multiple names making claim through their performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League, with the primary contenders being Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Sanju Samson.

The squad, as announced earlier by Jay Shah, will be led by Rohit Sharma.

As this year’s IPL precedes a marquee global competition like the T20 World Cup, there is a familiar clamour building up to pick may be an Ashutosh Sharma or a Shashank Singh as finishers, as they have engineered a couple of stunning heists for Punjab Kings.

However, things don’t work out that way.

More than IPL performers, the selectors may be should be worried about how to keep their pool of players fresh after a gruelling two months of IPL cricket. There have been three T20 World Cups (2009, 2010, 2021) that have been played a few weeks after the IPL and in all those events, India could not qualify for the semis.
